Stand tall
Taller than your shadow
Overshadow yourself
Let the sun stop at you
And not pass through
Don’t hide from it
The light will shine
Bringing colour to the dark
Where you lay, curtains drawn
The light fighting through the cracks
Trying to find your face
The desert sands
I wander through
With just my body
I hold onto
No water, no food, no air
No reasons, I let go
Inside I went
To caverns old and long ago explored
To be another that brings a torch
To light up what we forgot
Calling out my name
In a large room
8am
I sit there, on trial
For money that’s not mine
Only for me to sleep
The whole day
When I return
A hard day of nothing
Dreams mixed with thick ambition
Leaving me a bitter sweet mist
That I inhale deeply through my nostrils
To play around inside my lungs
And joyfully jump
Out my mouth
Leaving me to try and catch
The wispy, fading mist
I am the author
Of my own memories
I am the conjurer
Of my own emotions
What I choose
Flows and goes
But when all is written and done
Will there be many words to be said?
Green grass and mouldy clothes
That don’t fit no more
Because their memories have stretched them too far
At least the grass will always be green
But even that can’t be guaranteed
Old lines come back to me now
Refresh my dull mind
And give life to my words
Because at the moment
They’re burying their own graves
Waiting to drop at any moment
